Over the past year, I achieved a personal milestone—I earned my wine vignette! It all started with my enrollment in a wine course, where I learned the art of tasting wine. At the beginning, I was fascinated by how others could identify complex flavors. For me, wine was simply pleasant or not, dry or sweet—and I was already proud of that level of understanding.
As the course progressed, however, I began to recognize more flavors. I learned to distinguish the subtle nuances between different wines and refine my palate. It was eye-opening to realize just how much there is to learn about wine.
Now, I consciously select wines that complement the food I cook or order in restaurants. I’ve come to understand that a good wine can enhance or diminish a dish. Sometimes, I opt for a wine pairing menu, allowing a sommelier to serve carefully selected wines that perfectly match each course.
Earning my level 1 wine vignette was a milestone I’m truly proud of. It has deepened my appreciation for wine and enriched my culinary experiences. My next goal is to take a wine and food pairing course or progress to level 2 in the wine world. Eventually, one can advance to level 5, achieving the prestigious title of sommelier. I look forward to expanding my knowledge and enjoying even more of the wonderful world of wine!
